Now that the new fashion season has begun it is time to start collecting the essentials to create an up to date style. With so much variety available it is difficult to know where to start. Accessories can provide an instantly fresh look to your wardrobe, and this season features large pieces of jewellery, bracelets, pendants and earrings, as well as elegant belts and bags.

Kenneth Jay Lane's Crystal Chunky Cuff is a chunky metal bracelet encrusted with gloriously sparkly crystals and sums up the look for spring. Perfect with evening wear it will also transform day wear with elegance. Bottega Veneta's Coral Cocktail Ring is a striking knuckle duster in pewter with large spherical faceted coral stone. Alexander McQueen's Maharajah Necklace is silver tiered, featuring cut glass, crystal and pearl arranged in floral shapes and with a central droplet. This is an exquisite piece that can also be worn as a head piece, and will enhance a simple evening dress for the ultimate in chic. Belts are brightly coloured this season, and Miu Miu's Patent Leather Belt in dazzling turquoise with gold metal buckle adds life to a monochrome dress. Diane von Furstenberg's multicoloured print headscarf has an ethnic influence and has a definite feel of summer vacations about it, for a chic boho look. Robert Cavalli's Floral Pashmina in white and multicoloured silk and cashmere can be worn when the temperature is too cool for bare arms.

Finding the perfect shoe is a real challenge, but with a pair of boots, evening shoes and day shoes you have all eventualities covered. Giuseppe Zanutti's Fishbone Sandals in silver are strappy and slinky and feature a fishbone design and clasp ankle chain. These open toe sling back 5 inch heels are a must have item to accompany evening wear of any colour. Christian Louboutin's Very Brod Pumps in vivid fuschia suede are embellished with black embroidery and have a hidden platform and high heel. Ideal for cocktail wear these shoes would also look stunning with jeans. Marni's Satin Platform Sandals in dark grey are of a simple design, with open toe, platform and elasticated heel panel, for evening or day wear. Giuseppe Zanotti's vibrant Suede Ankle Boots in electric blue have severely thin 4 inch heels, giving the illusion that they are higher than they actually are. With a zip up the heel and pointed toe these boots will add zest to day wear. For those days when you just can not face heels, Christian Louboutin's Balacorta Patent Flats in ruby red glitter patent leather are both chic and comfortable and will add a flash of colour to your favourite outfits.

Clutch bags, shoulder bags and shoppers are designed in bright and garish colours this season, and Emilio Pucci's Vivara Vinyl Shopper is no exception. Multicoloured with coral leather trim, this bag is ideal as a holiday bag, with plenty of space to cram your essentials. Marc Jacobs Satin Rad Bag in bright purple satin is a clutch bag with long shoulder strap and leather trim, ideal with cocktail dresses. Bottega Veneta's Woven Box Clutch in bitter apple green satin intrecciato has leather trim and chunky brass knot clasp fastening, adding life to a single toned outfit such as charcoal day wear.
